MAA has several Intergroup classes that help speed media recovery. Here they are:
BACK-TO-BASICS- "A DESIGN FOR LIVING"
CLOSED SOBRIETY GROUPS
These month-long Sobriety Groups are led and sponsored by recovered members of MAA. There are many of these groups starting at different times of the month. These daily sessions are designed to help members get sober and stay sober from media addiction by fasting together and taking all MAA's Twelve Steps during this media fast, thus staying ahead of the disease. Please contact us to get on the waiting list for the next round of sessions.
Our purpose for the Back-to-Basics sessions are to provide a safe, structured environment where participants learn the principles of recovery, take the Twelve Steps, and have a life-changing spiritual awakening.
We have both Closed and Open Back-to-Basic meetings. The Closed Sobriety Groups are led by recovered members who sponsor each group. Those who join these meetings make a commitment to fast from media for a full month while working the steps with an assigned sponsor. Closed meetings need a code to obtain access.
The Open Back-to-Basics Sessions are provided for those who would prefer to do these sessions alone or with a action partner. If you are waiting to get into one of the Closed Back-to-Basic groups you can start the Open Back-to-Basics with another person who also wants to recover from media addiction.
The Back-to-Basics (B2B) Closed Sobriety Groups are a an MAA Intergroup. B2B groups do have commitments and policies that help the group stay in integrity. There are requirements for those who commit to the closed groups. In the Open Media Addicts Anonymous meetings, the only requirement for membership is the desire to stop compulsively using media.

These weekly meeting use the original Back-to-Basics format which is ultimately a Big Book Step Study meeting. We read one section of the B2B lesson per week. In this way, we complete all Twelve Steps in four months. After the reading on the Steps, we open up the meeting for memeber sharing.
Meetings will allow time for number exchange if you are looking for one-on-one sponsorship or a media action partner. Writing assignments are optional but encouraged.
Join us for this weekly Zoom meeting designed for past and present Back-to-Basics members who want more ongoing support to stay media sober one day at a time. There are no abstinent requirements to attend this meeting, however, you must have completed at least one month of Back-to-Basics
